SADRUSH SHARIAH, HADRAT ALLAMA MUFTI MUHAMMAD AMJAD ALI (ALAIHIR RAHMAH)

Sadrush Shariah, Hadrat Allama Mufti Muhammad Amjad Ali, the son of Maulana Hakeem Jalaalud'deen (radi Allahu anhuma), was born in Azamgarh in 1876 and passed away in 1367 A.H.

He was a famous student and Khalifa of A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah). He lived in Bareilly Shareef for 18 years. He gained immense knowledge and blessings from A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah). Sadrush Shariah was also appointed as a teacher at the Darul Uloom Mu'eeniya in Ajmer Shareef. His lectures at Darul Uloom Hafiziya Sa'eediya in Aligarh are quite famous. He was a member of the Curriculum Committee at the Aligarh Muslim University.

Perhaps his greatest contribution to Islam is his book "Bahare Shariat" which consists of 18 volumes. This famous "encyclopedia" contains the decisions of Islamic Jurisprudence according to the Sunni-Hanafi creed. Bahare Shariat has already been translated into the Hindi and English languages. A few translated volumes are available in India.

In his contribution in the field of Hadith, Sadrush Shariah began the commentary of Imam Tahtaawi's (alaihir rahmah) "Shara Muaani-ul-Aathaar", a well-known Kitaab which deals with the differences of opinion of the Fuqaha in the light of the Ahadith. This commentary remains incompleted due to his death, but what is presently available stands out as a unique piece of service to Islam.

"Fatawa Amjadia", which consists of two volumes, is also Hadrat Sadrush Shariah's work. It deals mainly with a number of questions and answers on Islamic issues.

His students are spread throughout the world and have brought the message of Islam along with them.

On the 2nd of Zil Qaddah each year, the Urs Shareef of Allama Sadrush Shariah (alaihir rahmah) is held in Ghausi, India. Thousands flock to pay homage to this great scholar and Saint of Islam.
